Concept

The Human-Environment Observatories (OHM) are devoted to
the study of socio-ecosystems that have been highly affected
by humans in ecological, economical and social respects and
that are undergoing substantial transformations due to a major
disruptive event.

OHM are tools promoting the interdisciplinarity of the Institute of ecology and environment/CNRS. They aim at encouraging and organizing interaction among environmental sciences through focus on a mutual research project.

The organization of research is incentive. Each researcher participates from the heart of his/her discipline (biology, economy, history, sociology, environment, health, geography, ecology, law, etc.) and interact with other researchers to form an interdisciplinary approach of the issue under consideration.

The OHM promotes exchanges, encounters and creates relationships with local actors (local authorities, businesses, government services, etc.). It organizes and manages information systems and databases to improve knowledge and support research.
